Tax Junior, Associate and Senior - Indirect Tax & Payroll

About the role

EY is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join its Indirect Tax and Payroll team, supporting South African clients from a Mauritius-based location. The role covers end-to-end VAT compliance, payroll tax processing and client service delivery in a deadline-driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review VAT returns in line with SARS requirements
• Perform VAT reconciliations, including input/output VAT analysis
• Manage monthly payroll tax compliance, including PAYE, UIF and SDL submissions
• Ensure timely e-filing submissions and payments to SARS
• Review and validate client data such as AR/AP schedules and payroll inputs
• Handle tax registrations, deregistrations and amendments
• Support SARS queries, verifications and audits
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve queries and ensure accurate reporting
• Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready working papers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or a related field
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
