About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for a senior academic leadership position within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will serve as Deputy Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies, overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of research activities and postgraduate programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the faculty’s research strategy and postgraduate study policies.
• Supervise and support academic staff and postgraduate students in research projects and thesis work.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and external partnerships to enhance research impact.
• Oversee quality assurance, accreditation processes, and reporting to national research bodies.
• Contribute to faculty governance, budgeting, and resource allocation for research and postgraduate initiatives.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD) in a health‑science discipline or related field.
• Extensive record of scholarly publications and successful research grant acquisition.
• Demonstrated experience in postgraduate supervision and academic administration.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
