Depot Manager – Uitenhage

About the role

The Depot Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the depot, making sure that health and safety, security, employee relations and legislation are followed. The role calls for effective leadership of depot activities so that operations run smoothly and efficiently, with the highest standards of service, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily depot operations so that all transportation activities are carried out efficiently, safely and in line with company policy.
• Manage and optimise the use of personnel, vehicles and equipment to meet demand and keep costs down.
• Solve operational problems quickly to keep workflows running and minimise disruption.
• Report accurately on depot operations (daily, weekly and monthly) and give feedback to the Director or senior management.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to boost productivity, cut costs and raise performance.
• Visit clients regularly and build lasting relationships with existing and new customers and other stakeholders.
• Keep the fleet and the depot in good condition and ensure trucks turn around quickly.

Required profile

• National Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
• A degree in Business Management or Logistics Management is an advantage.
• 5 to 10 years of logistics management experience, including depot management.
• Bilingual (English and Afrikaans) is preferred.
