Delivery Assistant – Support Driver and Customer Service

About the role

We are looking for a Delivery Assistant to support our delivery drivers in ensuring that products reach customers safely, accurately and on time. The role involves hands‑on handling of goods, assisting with vehicle manoeuvring and providing excellent customer service at each delivery point.

Key responsibilities

• Off‑load goods from delivery trucks and carry product crates to customer premises.
• Return empty crates to the truck and pack products onto shelves or into receiving areas.
• Count stock during deliveries to verify correct quantities.
• Assist the driver with vehicle manoeuvring, especially when reversing.
• Help load and unload products at depots and customer locations.
• Follow safety procedures, report incidents promptly and ensure products are securely fastened before delivery.
• Support delivery documentation and Proof of Delivery (POD) control.
• Greet customers professionally and address basic enquiries.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence (e.g., Code 10 with PDP) – advantageous.
• Previous sales or customer‑facing experience.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy products.
• Attention to detail when counting stock.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and distribution processes.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with delivery documentation and POD processes.
