Data Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer I to join a fast‑moving team that built our enterprise data lake from scratch and now manages the full stack – data lake, data warehouse and the supporting platform. You will work autonomously, own your tasks, ask insightful questions and quickly gain confidence in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of new data applications and systems for our Data & Analytics environment.
• Analyse business and system requirements to shape the data environment and build appropriate solutions.
• Collaborate with architects to produce solution design documentation for new and existing data products.
• Write and maintain ETL processes across the data lake and data warehouse.
• Apply Agile practices, testing standards and data‑governance principles to all deliverables.
• Gain exposure to AI tooling development, including MCPs, proxies and operational models as your skills evolve.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Data Analysis.
• At least 2 years of solid Python development experience.
• Foundational SQL knowledge and exposure to a cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Proven experience with SQL Server and/or BI tools such as SSIS, SSRS or SSAS, plus data‑warehousing lifecycle knowledge.
• Understanding of SDLC, ETL processes, relational databases, cloud data warehousing and Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with banking systems or business models is a plus.
