Senior Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

Methys Group, an international technology hub focused on customer success and business performance, is looking for an Intermediate/Senior Full-Stack Developer to join its team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. The team brings together experts in digital, performance and innovation, working with designers, client-facing colleagues and clients to shape the future of technology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop full-stack applications on Methys Digital platforms using Java, PHP, SQL, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, covering databases, APIs, frontend and backend services.
• Follow best coding practices: write unit tests, document code and deploy applications to backend servers.
• Work with juniors in a mentoring role and help maintain code quality, stability, security and data integrity.
• Continuously learn and share improved development skills with the team.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in backend and frontend development.
• Experience with Node.js, Java and JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL (MySQL), Redis.
• Knowledge of REST, JSON, XML, HTML, source control with Git, and Linux/Unix servers.
• Advantageous: React, React-Native, Swift and Objective-C.

Required skills

• Frontend: TypeScript, native JavaScript, jQuery (legacy), SVG, SASS; backend: Java, Node.js, PHP (legacy).
• Frameworks and tools: Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, React, React-Native, Angular (legacy), NextJS, Laravel (legacy), Node, PNPM, NPM, Yarn, Tomcat.
• Security, performance, memory management and data structures best practices.
