Data Architect (Contract, Hybrid) – Johannesburg

About the role

The Data Architect will lead enterprise data governance, design, and innovation for a hybrid environment in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Data and Analytics leadership, you will shape data strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive AI‑enabled analytics across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on, monitor, and govern enterprise data, implementing privacy policies and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and coordinate data strategies that capture new business opportunities and support development plans.
• Establish the Data Platform & Engineering operating model, service level agreements, and architecture for reporting and advanced analytics.
• Provide data analytics infrastructure, oversee cross‑functional data governance, and ensure data quality.
• Lead design and governance of enterprise data, integration, and AI architectures on IBM and Microsoft platforms.
• Promote emerging AI capabilities and ensure scalable, secure, high‑performing solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data governance, architecture, and analytics at an enterprise level.
• Strong collaboration skills with IT leadership and business stakeholders.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
