Cyber Security Analyst

About the role

Capitec Bank is looking for a Cyber Security Analyst in Stellenbosch to apply advanced analytical and cyber security expertise to its Cyber Security team. The role identifies, analyses and responds to emerging threats and vulnerabilities, safeguards digital assets, systems and data from sophisticated attacks, maintains resilient cyber defences and ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive information through proactive threat intelligence and rapid incident response.

Required profile

• 4 years' experience in Information Security, with at least 2 years in Threat Intelligence or a similar role
• Proven experience in proactive threat detection, mitigation and resolution of advanced cyber-attacks
• Experience turning enriched data and malware analysis into actionable intelligence
• Experience with AI tools in cyber operations (e.g. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Power Automate)
• Experience with enterprise Microsoft domain infrastructure (cloud/hybrid) and AWS cloud technologies
• Experience with package and artifact management (GitHub, JFrog, CI/CD workflows) and SaaS platforms such as Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with container orchestration and familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps models
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments within a high-performance team
• Financial services or banking experience preferred
• Minimum Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational; CompTIA Security+ or similar
• Ideal: tertiary qualification in IT, computer science or cybersecurity, and industry-recognised certifications such as GIAC, CEH or OSCP

Required skills

• Strong PowerShell scripting for automation, investigations, troubleshooting, reporting and dashboards
• In-depth knowledge of cyber threat intelligence frameworks, incident response procedures and TTPs
• Knowledge of threat intelligence platforms (OSINT, IOC analysis, threat feeds)
• Advanced analytical, investigative and communication skills, with clear reporting to stakeholders
