Customer Assistant – Foods (Pinelands)

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant – Foods at the Pinelands store, delivering exceptional service in a vibrant food retail environment. You will ensure health, safety and food handling standards are met while maintaining an inviting shopping experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, respond to their needs and provide product advice, promotions and alternatives.
• Implement stock rotation, maintain cold‑chain and hygiene standards, and replenish shelves accurately.
• Identify and isolate damaged goods, manage returns to vendors and report quality concerns promptly.
• Follow shop‑keeping disciplines such as planograms, gap policies and keep the department clean and tidy.
• Minimise shrinkage by reporting dishonest acts, managing stock losses and adhering to security protocols.
• Demonstrate product knowledge to promote new lines and ongoing promotions.
• Exhibit personal leadership through punctuality, dress‑code compliance and active participation in team meetings.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification or equivalent NQF level.
• Basic computer literacy for essential digital tasks.
• Experience in food retail or a similar customer‑service environment (advantageous).
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and weekends.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
• Basic numeracy and literacy for stock management and record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and cold‑chain management.
• Attention to detail for stock rotation, merchandising and shrinkage control.
• Demonstrated personal discipline, punctuality and adherence to dress code.
