Store Assistant Manager – New Store (Pinelands)

About the role

Dis‑Chem is opening a new store in Pinelands, Western Cape and is looking for a Store Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in delivering excellent retail performance. You will help drive sales, manage staff and ensure the store meets its operational targets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager with overall store operations and achievement of sales targets.
• Supervise and develop a team of retail staff, handling scheduling, leave and performance management.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring stock, placing orders and conducting bi‑annual stock takes.
• Manage cash office, receiving, administration and sales‑floor activities.
• Control shrinkage and ensure compliance with merchandising, pricing and layout standards.
• Handle customer compliments and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate promotional displays and ensure they are implemented correctly.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Minimum 5 years retail or FMCG experience across multiple departments.
• At least 3 years supervisory experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience using Unisolv, SAP or Qlikview.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and South African citizenship.
• Clear credit and criminal records.
