About the role

Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre is looking for a CSSD Assistant to join its CSSD department. The role supports the multi-disciplinary theatre team by cleaning, sterilizing and packing theatre instruments so that procedures can proceed safely.

Key responsibilities

Fold and pack linen correctly for sterilization
Wash and care for instruments according to the correct procedure
Pack instrument sets and loose articles as prescribed for sterilization
Ensure all instruments needed for procedures are sterile and ready for use
Check the functioning of sterilizing and decontamination equipment according to manufacturer instructions
Prepare yourself, equipment and materials safely, and carry out delegated tasks within your level of competence
Monitor repairs of instruments
Follow flexible working hours and work in line with CFSA guidelines and policies

Required profile

Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
Previous work experience in a hospital environment is essential
Flexibility with working hours and shifts
