About the role

An established small animal veterinary clinic in the Durban North area is looking for a compassionate, dedicated and motivated Veterinary Nurse. The role suits both a newly qualified nurse wanting to build a strong clinical foundation and an experienced professional seeking a fresh challenge in a supportive practice. It is a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with consultations, examinations and procedures.
• Provide attentive nursing care and monitor hospitalised patients.
• Prepare patients, equipment and treatment areas for procedures.
• Administer treatments and medication as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, infection control and clinical cleanliness.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges and client education.
• Keep medical equipment and clinical supplies maintained and organised.
• Support the veterinary team with daily clinical and operational duties.

Required profile

• A recognised South African Veterinary Nursing qualification.
• Valid SAVC registration.
• Genuine passion for animal health and welfare.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional, organised and reliable approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while staying calm under pressure.
