Credit Risk Analyst / Team Lead

About the role

We are partnering with a growing financial services organisation in Cape Town to hire an experienced Credit Risk Analyst who will also lead the Credit Risk Modelling team. This senior role focuses on building, challenging and improving credit risk models and translating complex data into commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate and monitor credit decisioning and affordability models, including application and behavioural scorecards.
• Lead IFRS 9 / Expected Credit Loss modelling covering PD, LGD, EAD and SICR methodologies.
• Design and maintain risk‑based pricing models and assess portfolio profitability.
• Produce credit risk forecasts, provisioning analyses and portfolio analytics for senior stakeholders.
• Ensure model governance, documentation and validation in line with SARB and Prudential Authority requirements.
• Mentor and develop a technical team while remaining hands‑on.

Required profile

• Quantitative degree (Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering or similar).
• 5+ years of credit risk, quantitative analytics or data‑science experience, preferably in banking.
• Previous experience leading a team of analysts.
• Strong practical experience developing or validating predictive credit risk models and IFRS 9 modelling.
