Counsellor / Psychologist - Crisis Support (Durban)

About the role

Intellect is looking for a Clinical Provider (Counsellor or Psychologist) to support clients on their journey toward better mental health and personal growth through its telehealth platform. This is a freelance, remote role based in Durban with flexible hours, suitable as a side activity alongside another job or private practice. Local candidates are preferred but others are welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 telehealth or onsite mental health support to Intellect's clients
• Address a range of clinical cases, including depression, anxiety, trauma and eating disorders
• Partner with the internal clinical team to improve the platform and client programs
• Deliver CISP (Critical Incident Stress Programme) virtually or onsite as needed

Required profile

• Master's degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
• Minimum of 300 clinical hours after the master's degree
• Experience with trauma-related cases in psychiatric hospitals, mental health clinics or similar settings
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans
• Openness to occasional onsite work is a plus

Required skills

• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or other evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, DBT or SFBT
• CISP (Critical Incident Stress Program)

Preferred background includes experience with EAP, adult counseling or coaching in managerial roles.
