Cost Consultant – Project Cost Management

About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Cost Consultant to join its professional team in South Africa. You will lead cost management activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring financial control and value optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection.
• Apply value‑management techniques at project inception.
• Manage estimating and cost‑planning, presenting final cost plans.
• Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds, licences and support formal execution.
• Administer building contract terms, provide valuations, and adjust variations.
• Deliver cost‑control reporting and prepare client financial reports.
• Identify cost impacts of design changes, construction activities and client charges.
• Evaluate contractor claims for delay and additional costs.
• Issue certificates of practical completion and oversee final account negotiations.
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement of processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management (or equivalent).
• Professional registration or full membership of RICS, SACQSP, SACPCMP, PMP or equivalent.
• Minimum 5‑6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with FIDIC, JBCC, Good and Services, and NEC contracts.
