Corporate Planning Manager – Municipal

About the role

The Municipality is seeking a qualified professional to lead corporate planning and strategic development. This role will drive the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) process, align performance management systems with municipal objectives, and provide strategic advice to council and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a corporate planning strategy aligned with the municipality’s vision and objectives.
• Lead the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) process, ensuring community participation and alignment with national and provincial priorities.
• Design and manage performance management systems, including KPIs and reporting frameworks.
• Monitor and evaluate municipal performance, identify improvement areas and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage the corporate planning budget and resources, and provide strategic advice to the council and management team.

Required profile

• Degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics or related field, with a postgraduate qualification in strategic management.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in local government, including strategic planning, IDP, budget planning and performance management.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work independently and in teams.
• Valid South African driver’s licence, clean criminal record and successful completion of competency and security vetting.

What we offer

• Remuneration package ranging from R 1 424 447 to R 1 987 402 per annum (mid‑point R 1 705 924).
• Five‑year fixed‑term performance‑based contract.
