Executive Director – Community Services

About the role

The Executive Director – Community Services will provide quality, sustainable community services to the residents of Matjhabeng Local Municipality and will oversee a portfolio of eight major service departments.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage waste management services, cemeteries, sport development and recreation, arts, culture and heritage, parks and horticulture, transport, traffic, safety and security, fire and rescue, as well as libraries and community halls.
• Provide strategic leadership, people management, operational financial management, governance, risk and change management across all community‑services functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Law or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the South African Council of Social Service Professionals (or a comparable professional body).
• Certificate in Project Management.
• Minimum five years’ senior management experience, preferably in a municipal or public‑sector environment.
• Demonstrated competence in financial and supply‑chain management (CPMD/MFMP).
