About the role

The Department of Central Analytical Facilities at Stellenbosch University seeks a Consultant Radiologist to join its multidisciplinary PET‑CT unit at Tygerberg Hospital. The role blends clinical reporting, research image analysis, and academic collaboration within a state‑of‑the‑art imaging and radiopharmacy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical interpretation and reporting of PET‑CT (primary) and SPECT‑CT studies in partnership with nuclear physicians.
• Interpretation of additional imaging modalities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, X‑ray and mammography.
• Perform research‑focused image analysis and contribute to the development of imaging protocols.
• Collaborate with national and international research networks and support academic publications.
• Provide private clinical practice services for cost‑recovery when required.

Required profile

• Board‑certified radiologist with specialist expertise in PET‑CT and SPECT‑CT.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical reporting across multiple imaging modalities.
• Strong interest in medical imaging research and academic collaboration.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to maintain minimal overtime and no after‑hours call commitments.

Required skills

• Interpretation of PET‑CT and SPECT‑CT studies.
• Proficiency with CT, MRI, ultrasound, X‑ray and mammography interpretation.
• Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical handling and EARL accreditation standards.
• Image analysis techniques for quantitative research.
