Communication Officer

About the role

The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), the implementation arm of the Department of Economic Development, is recruiting a Communication Officer. The role supports the Communications unit with administrative functions so that up-to-date information is available, and provides general administrative assistance to the unit. It is a permanent position with a three-month probation, Paterson grade GGDA C1, with a total cost of employment of R236 725 per annum.

Key responsibilities

• Digital storytelling: write engaging copy for the external website, adverts and social media channels.
• Content curation: coordinate, collate and draft editorial pieces for internal newsletters, external media publications and press releases.
• Channel management: maintain and update the intranet and internet with approved, engaging content.
• Digital signage: design and upload content to digital monitors across office floors for internal awareness campaigns.
• Support the Head of Department in designing and running internal and external communication campaigns that build corporate culture and staff alignment.
• Analytics and reporting: compile monthly media monitoring reports, track digital engagement metrics and share insights with stakeholders.
• Project execution: partner with the Senior Manager on ad hoc internal and external communication projects, keeping messaging consistent across all touchpoints.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is essential.
• A relevant diploma or degree at NQF level 6 in Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations.
• Strong digital writing, editing and proofreading skills, with a portfolio of corporate or digital content.
• Ability to adapt tone and style for different digital platforms and audiences.
