Cloud Security Engineer

About the role

Capitec is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to protect its cloud environments that serve millions of users. The role focuses on AWS while also covering Azure, Salesforce and Microsoft 365, ensuring that security is embedded in every solution the team builds.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor alerts, investigate security findings and work with application and support teams to remediate issues.
• Update and upgrade security tools, run vulnerability assessments and apply encryption and secure data‑handling controls.
• Document security configurations, standards, policies and procedures comprehensively.
• Respond quickly to incidents, analyse root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Support regular security audits, collaborate with external experts and contribute to policy updates.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in cyber security, IT security or a related technical field.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS; experience with Azure, Salesforce or Microsoft 365 is a plus.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology is advantageous.
