Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Azure)

About the role

You will play a key role in building and managing the cloud estate for an underwriting‑focused insurance and reinsurance business. Working closely with developers, data engineers, and third‑party vendors, you will design resilient and reliable Azure solutions that align with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee deployment of new infrastructure aligned with IT strategy and integration requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, primarily using Terraform.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to define infrastructure requirements.
• Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for performance, security, and reliability.
• Conduct regular audits to identify improvements and cost‑optimisation opportunities.
• Maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure architecture and implementation.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging cloud technologies.
• Provide technical support and guidance on infrastructure‑related matters.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure optimal service delivery.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience managing Azure cloud infrastructure (IaaS and PaaS), including backup and disaster recovery.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, in enterprise environments.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling in a GitOps model.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as PowerShell or Python.
• Experience working with REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Intune, and SharePoint Online.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with technical stakeholders.
