Clinical Sales Specialist - Arthroplasty

About the role

DePuy Synthes, part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, is looking for a Clinical Sales Specialist to maintain and grow its Joint Reconstruction business in Cape Town. The role focuses on protecting and strengthening existing arthroplasty accounts while increasing procedure volumes, product use and market share. About 80% of the time is spent supporting existing business and 20% on new opportunities within current accounts. The position is commission-based and involves working with orthopaedic surgeons, theatre teams, procurement stakeholders and hospital management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and defend existing arthroplasty business in assigned Cape Town accounts.
• Provide clinical and technical support during primary and revision hip and knee procedures, ensuring consistent theatre coverage.
• Identify growth opportunities and increase portfolio use through upselling and cross-selling.
• Become the recognised arthroplasty expert in the area, covering primary and revision knee and hip arthroplasty, robotic-assisted surgery and implant and instrument technologies.
• Deliver product training and education to healthcare professionals.
• Execute territory plans aligned to annual commercial objectives and run regular account reviews.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or equivalent in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Nursing, Clinical Technology, Business or a related field.
• Experience in orthopaedics, medical devices, healthcare sales or clinical support preferred.
• Knowledge of arthroplasty procedures and operating theatre environments advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the Cape Town region.
