Clinical Psychologist (Grade 1‑3)

About the role

The Gauteng Department of Health is seeking qualified Clinical Psychologists at Grade 1 to Grade 3 to deliver comprehensive mental health services across the province. The role involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and referral for adults, adolescents and children within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide psychological services to adults, adolescents and children, including assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and referral.
• Conduct psychometric and neuropsychological assessments.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team and provide consultation‑liaison psychology services.
• Render outreach programmes and coordinate the provision of psychology services.
• Lead research, capacity‑building activities and supervise community‑service psychologists.
• Perform administrative duties, audit preparation and implement departmental policies.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a degree that qualifies for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Psychologist.
• Current registration with the HPCSA and a valid annual practice certificate.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary context.
• Analytic thinking, independent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
