Clinical Nurse Practitioner (PHC)

About the role

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is advertising a Clinical Nurse Practitioner (Primary Health Care) position, reference MAN 01/2026, at Sundumbili CHC (Mandeni Clinic). The post covers primary health care services for clients and the community, including promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality comprehensive primary health care, including promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
• Ensure proper use and safekeeping of basic medical equipment, surgical and pharmaceutical stock.
• Assist in the orientation, induction and monitoring of nursing staff, and supervise and guide them.
• Implement infection control standards and nursing care standards, and uphold the principles of Batho Pele.
• Assist with clinical audits and quality improvement plans, and run health education and in-service training.
• Maintain patient records, written and electronic, and manage human, material and financial resources.
• Plan and organise the work of nursing staff and support personnel, and motivate junior staff.
• Strengthen data systems and treatment outcomes by capturing data on Tier.net and submitting accurate verified data on time.
• Support the Clinic and OHSC programme in the facility.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing Science and Midwifery allowing registration with SANC as a General Nurse, plus current SANC registration (2026).
• Grade 1: one year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (PHC); Grade 2: one year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science and PHC.
• Grade 1: at least four years of appropriate nursing experience as a General Nurse; Grade 2: at least 14 years of experience after registration as a General Nurse.

What we offer

• Grade 1: R495,423 to R581,931 per annum plus an 8% rural allowance; Grade 2: R607,350 to R752,913 per annum plus an 8% rural allowance.
• 13th cheque, optional medical aid and housing allowance (subject to requirements).
