Cleaning Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to lead the cleaning team at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. The role involves overseeing daily cleaning operations, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain work schedules and job cards for all cleaning positions.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure consistently high service standards.
• Ensure staff are properly dressed, wear name badges and represent the company image.
• Enforce cleaning methodologies in line with company policies, quality programmes and legislation.
• Perform monthly spot checks on high‑value assets and arrange repairs or servicing as needed.
• Carry out daily equipment checks and follow‑up, reporting maintenance and safety concerns to management.
• Respond promptly to management requests and keep line management informed of unit issues.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements specific to the site.
• Maintain personal health, hygiene and professional appearance.
• Promote morale and motivation through effective communication.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of cleaning supervisory experience in healthcare, hospitality or commercial settings.
• Demonstrated experience with health and safety standards and management.
