Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will partner closely with the CEO to translate strategic priorities into day‑to‑day operational excellence. This senior leader will drive efficiency, accountability and growth across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO to execute strategic and operational initiatives.
• Oversee daily operations across multiple functions, ensuring performance and alignment with business goals.
• Design and implement processes, systems and strategies that boost productivity.
• Monitor KPIs, report results and hold teams accountable.
• Identify and roll out process improvements and best practices.
• Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost control.
• Lead new‑business development, relationship building and growth projects.
• Supervise proposal, tender and funding application preparation and submission.
• Ensure professional, accurate business communication and documentation.
• Represent the company in meetings, presentations and industry events.
• Lead, develop and motivate high‑performance teams.
• Oversee contracting, negotiation, compliance and risk management.
• Prepare and present insightful reports to senior leadership and the board.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years in a senior operations or leadership role.
• Proven track record of managing operations, improving processes and driving growth.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial reporting.
• Experience in proposal writing, tenders and funding applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high‑level business writing skills.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and relationship‑building abilities.
• Leadership experience with team development and performance management.
• Contract management and governance experience is a plus.
