Chief Information Officer (CIO) – Digital Transformation Lead

About the role

The Chief Information Officer will steer the digital and IT agenda for our South African operations, ensuring alignment with global strategies while delivering locally‑relevant solutions. This senior leader will champion transformation, governance and security across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the RSA Digital and IT strategy, harmonising initiatives across business units and functions.
• Integrate global transformation programmes (e.g., GET, GDIT) and adapt them to the local context.
• Develop bespoke solutions where global harmonisation is not feasible.
• Implement the Digital and IT Target Operating Model to optimise processes and resources.
• Maintain strong internal and external partnership networks to support business units.
• Oversee operational excellence, cybersecurity, IT governance, data privacy and compliance with local regulations.
• Lead IT due diligence for mergers, acquisitions and new business applications.
• Shape a comprehensive data strategy and promote AI and automation to enhance decision‑making and customer experience.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in shaping and executing IT and digital strategies.
• Track record of delivering large‑scale transformation projects in a multinational environment.
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity, governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
• Experience guiding data strategy, AI adoption and emerging technologies.
