Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Johannesburg

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic and operational financial leadership for a multi‑entity, project‑driven organisation. Reporting to the Board and Executive Management, the CFO will ensure robust financial governance, accurate reporting and effective cash‑flow management while supporting sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function across the Group, including operating and project entities.
• Act as the principal financial advisor to the Board, shareholders, CEO and Executive Directors.
• Develop and implement financial structures, policies, procedures, controls and delegated authorities.
• Oversee monthly and annual close processes, Group consolidations, inter‑company accounting and preparation of financial statements.
• Manage audit preparation and maintain audit‑ready status.
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial performance management.
• Handle treasury, liquidity, banking relationships, cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital optimisation.
• Provide commercial input on pricing, margins, deal structures and new revenue opportunities.
• Supervise production finance from project green‑light through cost reporting to project close‑out.
• Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, risk management, tax compliance and fraud prevention.
• Drive finance transformation through process improvement, automation, systems and data governance.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior financial leadership within a multi‑entity, project‑focused environment.
• Proven ability to advise Boards and Executive Management on strategic and commercial matters.
• Strong track record of implementing financial controls, governance frameworks and audit‑ready processes.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, treasury management and cash‑flow optimisation.
• Experience driving finance transformation and leveraging automation and data analytics.
• Leadership skills to develop and inspire a high‑performing finance team.
