Chief Executive Officer – Hospital Leadership

About the role

The Gauteng Department of Health is seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead Kalafong Tertiary Hospital. The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight to improve health outcomes across the province.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate clinical and administrative services in partnership with the Executive Management team.
• Represent the hospital at provincial and public forums, providing strategic leadership aligned with national and provincial health plans.
• Develop and manage the hospital’s strategic plan, financial resources, and risk management in compliance with PFMA and related regulations.
• Oversee facility management, procurement, and supply chain to ensure cost‑effective and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Lead human‑resource policies, promote a safe working environment, and drive staff development and performance.
• Ensure high standards of clinical governance, corporate governance, and community engagement.

Required profile

• A Grade 12 Certificate and a relevant NQF Level 7 degree in a health‑related field, with current professional registration.
• Minimum five years of senior management experience in a public health institution.
• Strong knowledge of health sector legislation, regulations and policies.
• Valid driver’s licence (or exemption for persons with disabilities) and computer literacy.
