Chemical Plant Operator – Production Line Maintenance

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Chemical Plant Operator to join its Secunda Operations team. The successful candidate will coordinate and direct maintenance and repair services for a specific process within a production line, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage control panels and perform complex troubleshooting on plant equipment.
• Provide regular progress feedback to the supervisor and participate in shift handover meetings.
• Conduct risk assessments, maintain housekeeping standards, and follow waste disposal procedures.
• Carry out IMS inspections to support plant sustainability and safety.
• Play a primary role during emergencies to restore plant operations.
• Deliver on‑the‑job coaching for learners and present on specific equipment.

Required profile

• Grade 12/N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science and English (NQF level 4/5).
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in a chemical or industrial plant environment.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
