Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) – Tax Consulting South Africa

About the role

Tax Consulting South Africa is seeking a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) to join its growing accounting division in Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidate will work with clients and senior directors on complex accounting and tax matters, delivering high‑quality advisory and compliance services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of accounting and tax clients, ensuring timely delivery of financial statements, tax returns and statutory submissions.
• Review and sign off Annual Financial Statements and supporting working papers in line with applicable standards.
• Prepare and review Income Tax Returns, provisional tax calculations, VAT returns for companies, trusts and individuals.
• Provide strategic accounting and tax advice to support client decision‑making and compliance.
• Oversee monthly accounting functions including management reporting, reconciliations and VAT compliance.
• Handle SARS registrations, audits, objections and ongoing compliance engagements.
• Collaborate with directors and multidisciplinary teams on complex advisory projects.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum five years of post‑qualification experience in accounting and tax.
• Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles and South African tax legislation.
• Experience with cross‑border transactional accounting is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software packages.
