Change and Communications Specialist (Fixed Term)

About the role

Transnet is recruiting a Change and Communications Specialist (grade F, fixed term) in Johannesburg, reporting to the GM of People Management and Organizational Effectiveness. The specialist helps an organisation implement change by making sure employees understand what is changing, why, how it affects them and what they need to do differently, so that change initiatives are adopted successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of organisation transformation, change and communication strategies and plans, and research best practice to build change programmes.
• Partner with People Management teams and business stakeholders to implement and embed change initiatives.
• Conduct change readiness and capability assessments, run workshops and give specialist advice on organisational change, business process re-engineering, structure reviews and culture programmes.
• Develop change and transformation metrics, monitor implementation and compliance, and prepare reports for stakeholders and governance bodies.
• Develop and implement change communication plans, stakeholder engagement approaches and communication materials, and build relationships with key stakeholders.

Required profile

• A 4-year degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Humanities or Psychology.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of practical HR experience, including 3 years in consulting or at management level.
• Demonstrable experience developing and implementing change programmes in a medium to large organisation.
• Trustworthiness and honesty in handling finances as required by the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
