CFO / Commercial Finance Lead

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded finance leader to partner directly with shareholders and drive strategic financial decisions as we expand our equipment, service and asset‑based business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee overall financial management, reporting, controls and governance.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting and working‑capital optimisation.
• Analyse divisional profitability, margins and return on capital.
• Evaluate economics and performance of business units and revenue streams.
• Support capital allocation, restructuring and investment decisions.
• Identify under‑performing areas and challenge existing business models.
• Assess new commercial opportunities and growth initiatives.
• Combine financial, operational and customer data to produce actionable business intelligence.
• Improve management reporting to drive decision‑making.
• Collaborate with shareholders and directors on long‑term strategy and value creation.
• Help professionalise and scale the business while preserving its entrepreneurial culture.

Required profile

• CA(SA), CIMA qualification or relevant finance/accounting degree.
• Proven experience as a commercial finance leader, not just a custodian of accounts.
• Strong background in entrepreneurial, privately owned, product/equipment or asset‑based businesses.
• Deep understanding of cash flow, working capital, margins, profitability and return on capital.
• Ability to translate financial analysis into commercial decisions.
• Experience with budgeting and strategic financial planning.
