Cattleman – Albert Falls

About the role

Karan Beef Farming (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Cattleman to join its Albert Falls operation. The role involves hands‑on management of cattle, ensuring animal health, and supporting daily farm logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and treat sick cattle and manage cow‑and‑calf herds.
• Process, offload, dispatch and re‑vaccinate incoming cattle.
• Place cattle in appropriate pens after processing and manage grazing camps.
• Conduct regular post‑mortems and capture daily bunk‑management data.
• Order, issue and record medicines and stock levels.
• Maintain feed bunk operations and monitor dam water levels.
• Prepare paperwork for incoming cattle and plan daily cattle movements.
• Oversee HR duties such as staff management, timesheets, leave and discipline.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Minimum 4 years experience in a cattle feedlot or similar environment.
• Preferably hold an animal‑health or related qualification.
• Fluent in English, Afrikaans and an African language.
• Familiarity with Foot‑and‑Mouth disease protocols.
• Ability to work under pressure, including weekends, night shifts, overtime and public holidays.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of Excel.
