Casual Cashier – Sandton City

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting casual cashiers for its Sandton City store. The role supports customer service at the point of sale and ensures a world-class shopping experience, recording transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies and standard operating procedures. The position is part of a talent pool aimed at having a pre-screened group of people ready for future opportunities within Dis-Chem.

Key responsibilities

• Record customer transactions accurately and follow SOPs, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk
• Adhere to customer service policies, report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management, and follow the customer turnover hourly rate
• Manage cash flow, keep the till secure and place cash in the drop safe per SOPs
• Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons) and handle loyalty cards of partner schemes
• Approve and sign off line voids and price changes, exchange merchandise and accept returns where authorised
• Scan and pay for outgoing stock, scripts and items, and keep daily takings confidential
• Follow security policies, report suspicious behaviour, and address queries about store merchandise

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric
• At least 6 months of cashier or till operations experience
• Willing and able to work retail hours, with reliable transport or living close to the store
• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records

Required skills

• MS Office computer literacy
• Sound numerical skills and strong command of English
• In-depth knowledge of cash registers and cash drawers, and of processing sales, refunds and payments
