Casual Merchandiser – Sandton City

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting casual merchandisers for its Sandton City store. The role is part of a strategic talent pool: you will help maintain basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards and provide excellent customer service, while building a pre-screened group of people ready for future opportunities within the company.

Key responsibilities

• Restock merchandise as needed and keep the full range of products on the shelves
• Store and pack delivered stock correctly and on time, and rotate stock on a FIFO basis
• Check that stock has not passed its sell-by date and report low stock, out-of-stock, damaged and expired items to management
• Help with stock counts, stocktaking and loading/unloading of stock
• Keep shelves neat, labelled and priced correctly, and build and maintain merchandising displays
• Follow operating standards, planograms and health and safety rules, and handle merchandise carefully to minimise loss
• Answer customer queries about out-of-stock items and follow up on stock questions
• Train new staff and wear the correct uniform and badge at all times

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric; up to 6 months' retail experience (at least 1 year advantageous)
• Willing and able to work retail hours, and physically fit to lift heavy boxes
• Reliable transport or living close to the store, South African citizenship, clear credit and criminal records
• Strong command of English; bilingualism advantageous

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including MS Office
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking (advantageous)
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry (advantageous)

Remuneration is market-related. Not all talent-pool candidates are hired, but being in the pool increases the chance of being considered when a suitable position opens.
