Casual Cashier – Cornubia

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced casual cashier for its Cornubia store. You will support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience, recording transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies and standard operating procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Record customer transactions accurately and follow SOPs, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk
• Follow customer service policies, build professional relationships with customers and report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Manage cash flow, keep the till secure and place cash in the drop safe according to SOPs
• Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons) and handle loyalty cards of partner schemes
• Approve and sign off line voids and price changes, exchange merchandise and accept returns where authorised
• Scan and pay for outgoing stock, scripts and items, and keep daily takings confidential
• Follow security policies, report suspicious behaviour and address queries about store merchandise

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric
• At least 6 months of cashier or till operations experience
• Ability and willingness to work retail hours
• Reliable transport and/or residence close to the store
• South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records

Required skills

• MS Office computer literacy
• Operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers
• Processing sales, refunds and payments
• Strong command of English (written and spoken)
