Director Used Trucks

About the role

Volvo Group is looking for a Director of Used Trucks to lead, develop and deliver the Used Truck sales strategy across all channels (retail, dealer, wholesale and export). The role reports directly to the Managing Director of Volvo Group Southern Africa and sits within the Southern Africa Executive Management Team. It is based at the Volvo Group Southern Africa headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the Used Truck sales strategy and set trade-in and used truck guidelines and valuations
• Deliver agreed volume, margin and stock-turn targets, with effective forecasting, pipeline management and KPI delivery
• Lead, motivate and develop the sales organisation, fostering a high-performance culture and monitoring its performance
• Establish pricing strategies in line with market policy, optimise margin and sales mix across channels, and lead commercial initiatives and promotions
• Secure risk management during the lifetime of re-sale value contracts
• Build strong relationships with dealers and key customers, support dealer capability and business planning, and align retail, wholesale and export activities
• Drive customer satisfaction, retention and growth, and develop key accounts with a total solution approach
• Manage costs in line with the Used Trucks Business Plan, prepare budgets and forecasts, and ensure compliant end-to-end sales processes
• Work closely with purchasing, operations and stock management, and adhere to Volvo's compliance, anti-trust, data protection and health and safety requirements

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration or a related field
• 5 years' experience at Senior Manager level in the automotive industry
• 5 years' experience as an OEM (desirable)

Required skills

• Knowledge of the truck industry, transport logistics and vehicle legislation and trade practices
• Financial acumen, including deal structuring, budgetary control and accounting
• Sales principles in a retail environment
• Leadership, negotiation, strategic thinking, networking and communication skills
