Cashbook Clerk

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑driven Cashbook Clerk to join the finance team of a fast‑moving meat processing group with over 20 retail stores. You will be responsible for ensuring cash and sales records are accurate, reconciled and reported on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cash‑up reconciliations across all retail locations.
• Reconcile POS sales data with supporting documentation.
• Manage credit‑card, ATM, vault, Sparks and cash‑on‑hand reconciliations.
• Prepare sales import journals and post them into the IQ Retail system.
• Resolve discrepancies by collaborating with store teams.
• Oversee floats, change and stamps for each store.
• Provide accurate sales reports to the Financial Manager.
• Assist with year‑end audits and other finance functions.

Required profile

• Matric / National Senior Certificate (essential).
• Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping or related field (advantage).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Cashbook Clerk.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability and ability to meet deadlines.
• Team‑player who works well in a structured, policy‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using POS systems and cash‑handling software (IQ Retail).
