Call Centre Nurse Consultant (Temporary)

About the role

Unity Health, a primary‑care provider in South Africa, is looking for a temporary Call Centre Nurse Consultant to join its Clinical Team. The role bridges Unity Health, network GP practices and members, delivering clinical assessment, risk management and high‑quality customer service over the phone.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and manage inbound calls from network GP practices and members, conduct telephonic triage and pre‑authorise GP consultations where appropriate.
• Refer members to suitable healthcare services, facilitate access to pharmacy nurse clinics, wellness programmes and other approved providers.
• Monitor utilisation patterns, conduct clinical audits, validate ICD‑10 coding and identify clinical risks to control unnecessary costs.
• Maintain accurate records in the MIP system, ensure data integrity, comply with POPIA and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in a clinical or managed‑healthcare role with strong clinical knowledge and risk‑management capability.
• Registered Enrolled Nurse (EN) or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (ENA) with valid SANC registration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical abilities and a customer‑centric approach.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with POPIA principles.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• ICD‑10 coding and understanding of RPL tariffs.
• Use of the MIP Application System (advantageous).
• Knowledge of POPIA compliance.
