Business Intelligence and Automation Specialist - Food Industry

About the role

Our client, a leading processor and distributor of seafood products in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, is seeking a technically‑minded, highly analytical professional to join the Continuous Improvement & Control team. The Business Intelligence & Automation Specialist will develop and enhance Power BI reporting, SQL‑based data solutions, data integration, automation and AI initiatives while collaborating with stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance existing Power BI reports and dashboards; develop new visualisations and KPI dashboards for multiple departments.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, views and reporting tables; extract, transform and validate data from various business systems.
• Work with SAP and Innova data sources to build reliable reporting structures and support system integration.
• Identify repetitive manual processes, design workflow solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, and assist in building Copilot Studio agents.
• Analyse business processes, create process maps and SOPs, and track benefits from automation and reporting improvements.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX/measures and dashboard creation.
• Proficient SQL development and data manipulation skills.
• Experience handling data from multiple business systems; exposure to SAP and/or Innova is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, workflow automation and, preferably, Copilot Studio or other AI tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder communication abilities.
