Building Maintenance Team Leader

About the role

The Building Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for planning, executing, and finalising maintenance and building facilities projects within strict deadlines and budgets. This role oversees civil and building services, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, flooring, and pest control across Discovery’s properties.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement maintenance strategies for building civils works and related equipment (preventative, reactive, statutory, condition based).
• Plan, schedule, and conduct preventative and statutory maintenance in line with regulatory requirements and Discovery standards.
• Manage reactive maintenance requests promptly, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Maintain and update maintenance databases, schedule dates, and ensure spare parts availability.
• Oversee financial management: budgeting, forecasting, tracking expenditures, processing invoices, and CAPEX submissions.
• Handle procurement, quotations, approvals, and contract management for external and internal services.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance, conduct risk assessments, and maintain SOPs and work permits.
• Monitor contractor performance, manage service level agreements, and ensure quality control.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams in a building or civil works environment.
• Strong knowledge of preventative, reactive, and statutory maintenance practices.
• Ability to manage budgets, procurement processes, and CAPEX projects.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations and risk assessment procedures.
• Excellent coordination skills for managing internal staff and external contractors.
