Branch Supervisor

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is hiring a Branch Supervisor in Sandton. The role leads the team and supports the Regional Manager in achieving business objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and business guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team and manage petty cash usage at the site, providing monthly revenue updates
• Plan, organise and control operations, and monitor the performance of all operational activities
• Support field auditors, inspectors and the HSE and quality coordinator
• Control the implementation and maintenance of technical and operational procedures, and of the Quality Control and Safety systems
• Ensure adequate manpower, equipment and tools are available for efficient operations
• Provide liaison and technical support to current and potential clients, and assist the Regional Manager with complaints, claims, technical and sales support and proposal coordination
• Adhere to SGS QHSE and HR policies, the Code of Integrity and professional conduct, and country legislation
• Use the stop-work authority when risk control is unclear, and take part in Operational Integrity projects and campaigns
• Keep staff schedules efficient and minimise on-site overtime

Required profile

• Minimum qualification: senior certificate (matric); a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Chemistry or Statistics is an added advantage
• Health and safety qualification is an added advantage
• 5 years of management experience
• Experience in scheduling staff, safety and quality, and sample preparation
• Proficiency in English (read, speak, write)
