Social Compliance Auditor (SMETA, SIZA, BSCI, WRAP, SCAN, TFS)

About the role

SGS is looking for an experienced, certified social compliance auditor who has completed the APSCA-CSCA certification process and passed Parts I to III, and is in good standing with the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors. As a sub-contractor, you work with audit teams to plan, prioritise and carry out audits and prepare reports, supporting the local implementation and improvement of schemes such as SMETA 7, SIZA, BSCI, WRAP, SCAN and TFS.

Key responsibilities

• Act as sole and/or lead auditor on selected schemes, delivering audits in line with responsible business practices, corporate social responsibility, global procedures and scheme requirements.
• Meet agreed turnaround times for reports and other deliverables, and present a professional image with clients and auditees.
• Review reports from other auditors when needed, and give technical input to back office and sales teams.
• Maintain a stakeholder network (NGOs, industry bodies), attend conferences and stay up to date with industry trends and local legislation.
• Lead and organise audit teams before, during and after the audit, and mentor auditors with on-the-job training.
• Coordinate with program managers and the country technical lead, identify improvement areas, help revise audit policies and escalate complex issues.
• Comply with the Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct, cooperate with investigations, and follow health and safety and company policies.

Required profile

• Certified CSCA auditor in good standing with APSCA, with evidence of relevant social auditor training.
• Minimum of two years of social compliance audit experience.
• Experience of team management and leadership (desirable).
• Advanced English and Afrikaans.
• Own reliable transport, a valid driver's licence, a valid passport and a police clearance certificate.
• Local and international travel required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of labour laws, ETI Base Code, occupational health and safety and environmental management standards.
• Experience with SMETA 7, SIZA, BSCI, WRAP, SCAN and TFS audit programmes.
• Project management experience (desirable).
