Bookkeeper – Trial Balance (Midway Mews, Midrand)

About the role

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for Midway Mews in Midrand. This full‑time position involves handling invoicing, payroll, and month‑end accounting tasks while ensuring compliance with South African statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Capture all invoices and payroll data into the company‑approved accounting and payroll systems.
• Maintain an efficient filing system and archive records in line with POPI/PAIA requirements.
• Process monthly payroll, including calculations, statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, garnishee orders) and liaison with relevant authorities.
• Prepare and submit required reports to WRA, IOD and other statutory bodies within prescribed timelines.
• Perform bank statement reconciliations, including EFT, speed‑point and debtor deposits.
• Execute month‑end creditor reconciliations and ensure timely payments.
• Support HR‑manager with accurate employee files, leave records and statutory documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bookkeeping or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and statutory reporting.
• Ability to maintain accurate filing and archiving systems in compliance with POPI/PAIA.
• Attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve payroll queries.
