About the role
Our client, a well‑established property developer in Cape Town, is looking for an entry‑level Bookkeeper / Financial Assistant. You will support the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month‑end close.
Key responsibilities
- Record daily financial transactions in the general ledger.
- Assist with accounts payable – organise invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Support accounts receivable – issue invoices, follow up overdue payments and reconcile balances.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Enter data into accounting software and maintain filing systems.
- Help prepare payroll by verifying hours and assisting with calculations.
- Update expense, maintenance and flight schedules for month‑end reporting.
- Assist in gathering documents for tax filing and audit support.
- Process petty‑cash, card transactions and online banking transfers.
Required profile
- Diploma in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or related field (experience may substitute).
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience; property sector experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and good numeracy.
Required skills
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero or Pastel.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- General Microsoft Office competency.
