Accountant

About the role

Apex Group is expanding its finance team in Cape Town and seeks a diligent Accountant to support multiple entities across the group. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in month‑end processes, payroll assistance, and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and reconcile monthly accruals, pre‑payments and fixed‑asset registers.
• Execute monthly bank reconciliations and assist with payroll processing.
• Issue client invoices, manage aged receivables and reconcile revenue.
• Prepare cash‑flow analyses and support periodic VAT returns.
• Contribute to month‑end closing and the production of accurate management accounts.
• Assist the Finance Manager with variance analysis, capital adequacy reporting and regulatory submissions.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.

Required profile

• University degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
• Final stages of ACCA qualification (or comparable).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Competence with general IT tools.
• Experience using accounting packages.
