Bookkeeper & Customer Service Support (Remote)

About the role

A remote, permanent full-time position split roughly 60% bookkeeping and finance administration and 40% customer service. The holder manages the day-to-day finance of two related businesses, covering reconciliations, VAT, payroll, supplier payments and management reporting, while helping customers with orders, deliveries and returns. Working hours are Monday to Friday, UK business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Bookkeeping and finance: complete bank, card and payment-platform reconciliations in Xero across multiple entities
• Process supplier bills and sales invoices and maintain purchase and sales ledgers
• Prepare monthly supplier payment runs and payment files for approval
• Prepare and process monthly payroll in Xero
• Prepare and submit UK VAT returns, including MTD requirements
• Produce monthly management information (profit and loss, cash position, key costs) and support month-end and year-end processes
• Liaise with external accountants when needed and keep financial records up to date
• Customer service: respond to enquiries by email and telephone, assist with orders, deliveries and returns, follow up delivery issues and keep customer and order data accurate

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Strong customer service experience by telephone and email
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Desirable: knowledge of UK payroll, PAYE and RTI, multi-entity bookkeeping, e-commerce or retail experience, and a recognised bookkeeping qualification such as ICB or SAIPA
