Boarding Mentor

About the role

Reddford House Northcliff, part of Inspired Education, is looking for a Boarding Mentor. The role takes a holistic view of the students in its care, promoting their general progress and well-being, and creates a positive learning environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Establish a nurturing environment that promotes engaged learning.
• Behave professionally regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and students' homework.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice, and develop continuously through personal and school-wide professional development.
• Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
• Produce high-standard resources for students.
• Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
• Show loyalty to all facets of the school and attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head.
• Set and mark exams and other forms of student evaluation, and write report comments.
• Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience with students in a secondary school.
• Previous experience with IEB programmes and in a high-performing international school.
• University degree in an appropriate subject and certified teaching status.
• Right to work in South Africa.
• Commitment to student development, a passion for the profession, excellent organisational skills, a positive attitude to change and an excellent classroom practitioner.
