Blade Technician – Multiple Wind Projects in South Africa

About the role

Swire Renewable Energy South Africa is seeking experienced Blade Technicians to support multiple upcoming wind projects across the country. The role involves performing blade inspections, repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of wind turbine assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed blade inspections on wind turbines.
• Perform blade repair and maintenance tasks on site.
• Utilise rope access techniques to reach high‑altitude work areas safely.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet project schedules and quality standards.

Required profile

• IRATA Rope Access Technician certification (Level 1, 2 or 3) – mandatory.
• GWO Blade Repair and GWO Basic Safety Training – mandatory.
• Valid South African driver’s licence – mandatory.
• Proven experience in Category 4 and/or Category 5 work or blade repair.
• Additional GWO qualifications such as Basic Technical Training, Slinger Signaller, Advanced Rescue Training and Lift User are advantageous.
• Completion of relevant e‑learning modules.

Required skills

• Blade inspection and repair techniques.
• Rope access operations (IRATA certified).
• GWO training modules (Blade Repair, Basic Safety, Technical, Slinger Signaller, Advanced Rescue, Lift User).
• Category 4/5 work experience.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
